Typhoid Fever
It is an acute life-threatening illness caused by a bacterium which is transmitted by ingesting contaminated food or water and is characterised by persistent high fevers, loss of appetite, bloody diarrhoea and severe haedaches.
Vaccination is recommended for travel to risk areas – smaller cities, villages and rural areas where hygeine and sanitaion are poor but caution must still be taken in selection of food and drink.
