Influenza

It is a viral disease characterized by fever, joint pains, myalgia, headache, sore throat, coughing and runny nose.

  • The influenza vaccine should be taken taken by those most at risk of developing serious complications:
  • Pregnant women
  • Persons 65 years and older
  • Chronic respirsatory illnesses e.g asthma and emphysema
  • Chronic illnesses such as diabetes or renal disease and heart failure
  • Immunocompromised patients e.g HIV positive, patients having chemotherapy or radiation
  • Young children
  • Medical personnel
