Hepatitis B

It is highly infectious and potentially fatal disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus which is transmitted by contact with infected body fluids of which sexual transmission is an important mode of transmission.

It can vary from no symptoms to to full blown Hepatitis with fever, loss of weight and abdominal pain, followed by a few days of jaundice. Chronic liver disease, cirrhosis and Cancer of the liver can result in those with a chronic infection.

Vaccination is the only preventative method.
